One of the main reasons, I have gotten so many in one season....is we have been plagued by grasshoppers, and I mean plagued, for the past couple of years. So I am hitting them hard this year with an army of ducks, turkeys, guineas, and of course chickens.
My existing chickens are in a couple of hoop coops that my hubby made. We are making some make shift temp coops for all the new ones to roost in at night, during the day they will be free ranging....and he is going to make a couple of more hoop coops for the turkeys and guineas.
I bought a used chicken coop off of craiglist for 20 dollars, it is going to go in the garden for the banties with a little run for when I don't want them to be cut loose in the garden. Also for the garden are some little chicken tractors to move up and down the rows...so the banties can eat bugs and weeds.
The roos as they come of age, we will be eating.
