I was a baddddddddddddd girl and opened the 'bator to "listen" to the last egg. I didn't hear anything so I grabbed the flashlight and candled it quickly. I don't know why I didn't see this before but this one was a quitter wayyyyyy back.
So my stats are as follows:
8 original eggs started.
3 eggs clear
1 blood ring
1 quitter
3 healthy babies!
So I have the teeniest tiniest most beautiful gold laced cochins. But of course I'm not biased or anything. LOL
This has been the greatest learning experience for my family and I. I raise and breed parrots but the parrots incubate the eggs, I just handfeed the babies after 3 weeks. This incubating is such a rush. What a great miracle!!
I had Easter chicks hatch too! I am new here but if anyone saw my first post, I joined after losing 15 of my hens to a dog attack. We had one broody hen who stayed put on her eggs and stayed safe. We weren't sure how long she had been brooding but her having chicks meant even more to us now that we had lost so many. Some of the eggs she was sitting on are eggs from the hens that died, so it keeps their memories alive. On Easter night we went down and checked and there were 4 babies! What a great Easter gift. Thanks everyone!
