thank you so much for replying. i checked out the thread and it did help a lil'. she scratched her eye and got an infection. now its all chesy. I'll do what the thread suggests any way. I do keep it clean and put ointment it just hasn't got any better. thank you for your time.

I think she needs an oral antibiotic for a few days. You should add Duramycin-10 or a similar broad spectrum antibiotic powder into her drinking water, to fight the infection internally. Adding neosporin cream directly to the eye can help, but it's doesn't seem to be enough on it's own.

I have a rabbit with one eye, who suffered a similar injury as a kit (it's mother scratched its eye while cleaning it). The subsequent infection made it necessary to surgically remove the eye. He lives just fine and happy as a pet with only one eye, and is a great breeder buck, btw.

If you can't get the infection cleared up, it could become life threatening... so you might want to consider removing the eye, if necessary. Good luck!

:ducI think that I should stop talking now!ok bye!

i had just put warm compress on her eye. flushed it out. and i put benodyne on it. she was on tylan for 5 days. i gave her vitamins then noticed nothing was happening so i put her on batryl for another 5 days and still nothing! no improvement it's hard cheesy gunk. there are no avian vets around here. and when i thought i found one. i brought my rooster in for bumble foot. which i was nursing just fine for 6 months and he gave him an overdose of batryl. and now he's gone. so i can't take my girl in. i'm too chicken of losing her.

Was the Tylan injectable? If not, I would try that next. From what I've read, it's important to use a warm compress, clean the infected area with a saline solution, and treat it with an antibiotic cream... which you've already been doing. If it's still not responding to that treatment, then I'd step up the antibiotics somehow. That could mean using an injectable form, or perhaps trying a different brand. I hope she starts getting better soon!

thank you for responding to my post. i don't know what else to do. I have given her vet rx down her thought and mouth. nothing different. something has got to give.
