I HAVE DIGGING PROBLEMS! *Pics!*

I NEED to know what to do! My chickens are digging their coop out of the ground! Well..... What should I do to stop them? I don't want the coop to collapse. ( SOME OF THE PICTURES HAVE THEM IN ACTION!)

I doubt they'll dig out enough to cause the coop to collapse, but you can encourage them to dig further out by putting bricks or pavers around the supports. I've surrounded all my run posts that way since they were starting to chisel at the concrete around the posts. At least that way they'll be digging several inches away, instead of right at the base.

A hardware cloth skirt would probably stop that.

The Earth is cooler the deeper they go.. I bet they sun bathe there and dust themselves there as well.

Depends on how deep the foundation is...but yes pavers and bricks can work wonders.

They are probably just trying to make a dusting spot for themselves.

The pavers sitting flat on the ground might not do the trick......

First I made the 'patio/threshold' in front of and under the door. They dug underneath it. So I added the row of bricks. They dug underneath it. So I added the 2x8x16" pavers on edge and anchored them in with rebar. That has worked well so far.

Thanks everyone. I think they do it to find bugs. I see them in it all the time.
