One day I had accidentally blocked the entrance to the coop where they had normally been laying, so I guess they found new places to lay. Ever since that day they will not go back to the nesting boxes to lay, and they have chosen new spots in the woods or under my deck.

Is there a way I can force them back to lay in the nesting boxes?

lock them in the coop for a couple of days and they should get back in the habit of laying in there nest boxes.

works like a charm:)

Ok! I feel bad for them because it is in the 90's here, but I cant have them laying eggs all over the place!

Pick up all eggs in the yard as soon as you see them. Put eggs or fake eggs(must have weight, so if you use easter eggs fill them with sand)in the nesting boxes.

I gave up last year and just made them some dedicated "nests" in the yard, boards propped against the house with straw underneath and fridge crisper boxes full of straw hidden in the flowerbeds. At least then I was able to find them easily.

None of mine lay before noon, I have to egg gather around 5 p.m. Spoiled brats.
