I have eggs all over my yard!

I found 6 under a sage bush today. I check daily or at least every other day for hidden nests, I think the older girls are mad that the pullets are uesing "their" nest boxes.

Mine had several nests in different areas, so for the past 2 days, they are on lock down till at least 10...so far all eggs are inside now...it does work...

I recently discovered that some of mine were laying behind a bush next to one of the sheds.

We pruned back the bush; no more eggs there.

I also have bantam eggs that are usually given to the dogs as treats. Now I use them in the nests. The girls see the eggs in the nests and think that it must be a really good spot to lay (since obviously the other hens are laying there), so now they lay in the nests.

Can you eat those ones you find grouped up? Or are they all from today, but different birds?

Also it's like an Easter egg hunt for you guys every day!

And finally, my pullets are close to laying and they have been spending a lot of time in this one back section of the yard I'm gonna go check for a nest.

I could probably eat most of them, but I am not sure how old they are. I threw em away. Its not like eggs are scarce around here.

I have had my chickens for a year now they always laid in the nesting boxes, all of a sudden they make a nest in the corner of the coop and lay there now. I don't know what happened or why. I do have a rir hen in 1 box(broody since june) I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not.

I think mine have started laying in the blackberries (no way am I going in there to look, though!) so this morning they're on lock down until I see eggs. They are SO MAD. Pushing against the door of the run (together, mind you!) to try and open it so they can get to the blackberry patch and yelling/growling at me every time I walk by. Sheesh.

If I didn't know better, I'd think someone was broody the way they're acting.
