I have issues...

Ohhh, that's awesome. I'm new here and don't actually have any chickens yet. Getting ready to move to Alaska and will get chics (not sure exactly what to start with) after we settle in. But I have learned so much about chickens just from reading all of these post. Seems like a great place to ask quetions too.

I never even thought about baby moniters or cameras. Now I have to get one!
My DH just got home from the slope yesterday so I will give him a day or two to rest and then it's time to build the coop! So I still have eight, I think that's good for now so I can see how well they do in the winter.
Dang they are cute though! They grow so fast. They will be three weeks on Monday.
Baby ducks are pretty cute too....are they as messy as I have heard?
Thanks for the math stilwellchick! I like my animals to have lots of space!

Okay so if I want to add more chickiesm do I count coop size and run size together or just the coop size? My coop is 6 ft. by 10 ft. and my run size is 10 feet by 12 feet. So I have 10 chickies ,4 weeks old and I really ,really want some barred rocks but absolutely no one has them for atleast 2 months or more. I really want some New Hampshire or RI Reds too? Is there anyone out there in central Arkansas that has some chicks to sell in these or know where I can get some real quick? I do not want to waite to long as I do not have anywhere to seperate them if there is a big difference in age with my others. So can any one help me with how many and where I can get some ASAP?

Yes... duckies are messy and stinky. But worth it...

Just count your coop space for the number of chickens... they all roost in there at night, and if they have to fight all the time, they're not going to be happy. You can let them free-range during the day all you want, but if there isn't enough room in the coop, you're asking for trouble when they want to lay eggs or roost. I've got 26 birds in an 8x8' coop temporarily, and they're doing ok... could be better. That's about 2.5 square feet per bird in there, and I have 3 levels of roosts. They'll be split out soon, though.
lovemychicks9, you might want to post that question as its own thread... you might get more visibility...
