I Have New Feathered Family Members!

The biggest one, whom we think is a boy, climbed up on my lap the other day and went to sleep. The other two will curl up against me and go to sleep, but they are not lap goslings like the biggest. I named 'him' Beau. If he ends up being a she, she'll be Bow.

Speaking of, is size at this age (3wks) any way to indicate gender? All three are different sizes. Beau is about 2 days older than the other 2, though. If size is an indication, I think the largest 2 are boys... But, really, I have no idea.

I love how much personality they have.
Might be a bit young to tell them apart by size. Maybe band the smaller one in case they all start to look the same, and you'll know later if you were right.

I LOVE my geese too! I have 8 geese now but the last four I got as goslings. They were raised in the house in a playpen for the first month, then I moved them to the chicken house. They imprinted on me...now at three months old they still follow me around the farm. When I walk ouside I just call my "babies" and here they come running. They are out on my 1/2 acre lawn during the day with their big pool and the sprinkler on. At night they have an 8' x 16' space in the chicken house. They only get to free-range if I'm home which is most of the time but when they are locked up they still have 2 small pools and a nice sized yard to themselves. My chickens got annoyed having to share their 16' x 16' house with them so I had to remodel it into two rooms because I really didn't want my hens upset. They're spoiled too. My older geese just decided that whatever the young ones found so facinating in me must be there because I have my goose herd. They even sit on the front porch and wonder why the dogs can come in the house and they can't. Husband isn't too amused...LOL! So I have to wash the porch off daily.

Enjoy your geese...they are so much fun and so entertaining.

Love toulouse geese:) I have one myself. They don't hit the 'awkward teenage stage' as bad as other breeds. My embden is just plain odd looking while my toulouse remains cute. They are 3 months old.
