I have no idea what I am doing

that's some dedication!

my concern now is humidity. i am a hands-on person, but you have pushed that to quite an extreme haha! I'm honestly surprised that it has survived all that moving around, transporting, temp and humidity fluctuations.
I know its hard to believe. I honestly do not know how it made it through that first night after the mom left with her chicks and it sat there in 45 degree cold and rain for over 12 hours.

Very few things as amazing and inspiring as a kind man actually incubating an orphan duck egg. And to think you have done this with an auto-shut off heating bad that won't let you sleep more than 2 hours at a time...over 10 days...carrying it with you everywhere!!! You will be voted into the Duck Hall of Fame for sure:D

BTW I've heard of women successfully incubating chicks in their bra!
So glad to hear I am not crazy lol

I have a problem, the guy in the pet store sold me a heat lamp and a 100W reptile basking bulb. First problem is the fixture says 75 watt max which i didnt see until this morning and the temperature in the tank was 105 degrees. I just switched the bulb to a regular bulb that I use in my kitchen high hat lighting and it is 65 watts. Im going to have to give it a while to see where the temperature ends up. Any suggestions? The light I purchased sits on top of a metal screen which is on top of a 15 gallon glass fish tank so the light is about 12 inches from the floor of the tank. so far the temperature is up to 90.
