Hello everyone. So far no change from this morning at 10 when it externally pipped in two spots. I have attached a picture of the egg for everyone to see. Any advice would be appreciated. The picture only shows one pip but there are two right next to each other and they both look like the one in the picture. The shell is still attached and I do not know if the membrane was broken or not. But here is sit waiting. There is some movement inside and the duck is breathing however it appears to be labored but that may just be because its curled up in a ball. Please let me know if there is anything I should do at this point. Thank youView attachment 556869
I am not sure that you can tell from the picture but the membrane is still nice and white and very much like paper its very dry but then again it is in the air sac space. I should not open that just leave it as is or would that help the chick breathe of I opened it?

Other signs to watch for distress... continuous punching at the same pip hole over and over with no progress towards zipping, weak peeping, foot going into air cell... but keep in mind, the baby will take breaks and nap in between activity... as long as it has activity, responds to your peeping at it and makes clear peeps, it should be fine...
Hang in there, you're doing fine...[/QUOTE
cant get it to chirp but then again its not like it was doing a lot of that over the last three days. Just seems to be banging around in there but not breaking anything which is what it has been doing since the weekend.Other signs to watch for distress... continuous punching at the same pip hole over and over with no progress towards zipping, weak peeping, foot going into air cell... but keep in mind, the baby will take breaks and nap in between activity... as long as it has activity, responds to your peeping at it and makes clear peeps, it should be fine...
