Can anyone help me with my duck egg!?!?. I had to assist in external pipping as it was dangerously close to 24 hrs of internal pip. It's now been 14 hrs since I did it. What should I do

I'll tag a few folks who might be able to help. But I DO know that ducks take longer for EVERYTHING, and it may be best to wait. I wouldn't rush. No matter WHAT you do, STOP if you see blood or veins - it's not ready. Much better to wait than to rush helping.

40-48 hours from internal pip is not uncommon with ducks, so I'd give it a little more time.

But a few questions may make a difference.
how big of an external pip did you make? What breed of duck? is it hatching on time, early, late? How has temp/humidity been throughout the process? What type of incubator are you using?

Wait at least another 10 hours... ducklings can take much, much longer than chicks to hatch... and if temps were low, even longer... :fl

View attachment 1058745 Lucky looks like she is got a Mohawk hairdo. Trying to get a better pic of it. It's worse just after the pool

:love

View attachment 1058752 Funny thing is when she is outside she acts all independent and doesn't like to be fussed with like when she is inside but as you can see she is still never more than a couple inches away from me. She wouldn't sit in the blanket with me but as long as she can still touch it she is happy

:love :love
Awww!!! She's become a typical teenager!! :lau
