I have no idea what I am doing

You ARE his ambulance!

:lau

Paging Dr Raven pagin Dr Raven. Thank you so much for the great advice. I really hope this nail grows back because she is going to look silly with only two polished nails on one foot and three on the other. Maybe we will just paint the two toes on the good foot so nobody will notice

Or use glitter nail polish... nobody ever looks past the glitter! :lau :lau

 :thumbsup We won't tell.

Says you! It is my prerogative, nay my right, as Lucky's godmother to remember every little embarrassment and bring it up at the most opportune time once she is an adult and in front of all her 'cool' friends...

:lau :lau

Nothing new on the eggs.. the twins are chirping about but they aren't very active.
Egg 3 is still the same as well... Kiwi (Egg #7) had his/her first swim this morning and loved it. And momas still sitting on the eggs.. Now i have a question, The eggs that are hatching are pure bred khaki campbells.. And Kiwi looks like he/she has a little ring around her/his neck... Does this mean Kiwi is a drake?

Edit~

And also... How long do you wait after the duck has internally pipped you can help them?

Ugh lucky just got her first boo boo and it figures I don't have any first aid stuff here at the lake. She jumped over a board and looks like she caught her nail. I saw a couple tiny dots of blood on the floor and quickly dabbed it with paper towel. It seems to have stopped on its own I'm just hoping it stays like that. We will be going to the drug store today for emergency supplies for here. You will all be proud I didn't freak out and call an ambulance lol.
LOL good for you!

The nail totally came off. But there was only the tiniest dot of blood after like a pen point. I'm just afraid is she touches it that it might bleed again and should I put anything on it to clean it
did you know that corn-starch will help to stop the bleeding? ;) next time

Whaaat? lol
new-skin, liquid bandage

Of course you are... :hugs

No liquid bandage, Lucky is fine... nail should grow back without issue, and if not loss of one nail is not anything that will bother her... :)

Btw, he didn't call an ambulance, but he did page me, lol... ;)
:hugs you are his hero

the twins more than likely will need help, you need to be able to candle and see if the yolk is absorbed

you should NOT intervene a regular (singleton) until it is ABSOLUTELY necessary
and always candle before you start to check for yolk absorption, veins etc

generally speaking ducks are VERY SLOW hatchers, 24 hours internal to external, 24-40 external to zipping

yes, 40 hours CAN happen, it takes a long time to absob yolk, if they are yawning they are still absorbing

Candling can tell you a lot

@MillersFarm post photos, photos tell us a lot

GOOD LUCK!!

Neck ring in duckling down does not indicate gender, just fyi... or in juvie plumage either... gotta wait til adult molt...

X2 on waiting, ducks tend to take their sweet @$$ time, lol...

My camera had is no longer working so i'll try and get some photos of the eggs..
I will defiantly candle the eggs and try to see if the yolk is absorbed.

I'm pretty sure i can see it..the yolk so i wont do anything..yet..

Gah! its so frustrating~! but thanks anyways i was a bit worried there for a moment

Just went out to check on the eggs again, The twin egg hasn't done much and the outer membrane was starting to turn brown and dry so i peeled away just a little bit of it... I haven't heard the twins chirp in a while which is worrying me.. I blocked the the pip and candled the egg to see if they were still alive in there.. Pretty sure i saw one more so that's good. Oh the wait is killing me! :th
