I was planning on the hardware cloth apron and then 12x12 concrete patio blocks surrounding the entire pen to spare the expense of doing the entire floor

Sounds like a plan! We are doing pretty much the same thing only going even cheaper and making our own concrete pavers. Harder on the back but easier on the wallet lol

I just don't know how I'm going to sleep with her outside. I'm sure I will be a zombie by the end of the first week. That is if I ever get something built

I bet if the weather is nice you might camp out in your yard. You are a good duck daddy. I don't know you but I want you to know I am proud of the person you are. Not many people would have tried to save luckys egg. Thank you for saving her and it also makes me feel better just knowing careing people are out there.

I'm gonna be nervous right with ya. Mine are moving from the corner of my yard where I can see them out my window to the other side of the driveway . . . it's not really that far away but I'm used to having them close!
Ground was too hard to dig the holes today even with the tractor. Ugh. We may never get ours built either.

I've seen those predator deterrent lights on Amazon. No idea if it would work or not but thinking about getting some cause we have foxes.

Motion sensor lights, Correct?
At least they give you a visual cue [as long as you can see them flash on from the house?] that something needs checking out there.

I'm afraid raising a puppy would be another major source of worries for Steven!!
