I have one hen left, should I add another two hens and if so how do I go about this?

Hi, I had two hens left until my jack Russell saw it fly out and attacked it. Unfortunately it was hurt badly and we had to put the bird down. (About 4 years old).

I may not get any more hens but if I do, how do I ensure that they don't get bullied from the existing hen. Do I need to buy an ark so they can sleep separately, and separate them during the day so they can get used to one another side by side. If I do get more I need to ensure their wings are clipped and that the netting is secure.

Will the chicken get lonely by itself? I will wait and see before I decide to get any more birds.

Yes, the chicken will get lonely as chickens, like many birds, are very social creatures. If you add more than two, the one chicken will probably not bully the others as badly because she will be outnumbered.

Just keep her & spoil her.
Or get her one friend.
I have a link in my signature ~ we did that with success.
Three is nice to have, adding two could work too.
Good luck!
