I HAVE ORPINGTON PIPS!!! Pix added

It's not splayed or curled feet, so I don't think it would do any good. I think it's probably neurological....it looks like it's got a little bit of a crink in it's neck too. I gave it some vitamins and water and tried to get it to eat something too. It's a lot smaller than the others....it came from a pullet egg.

Hi,
Where is the zuni post you were talking about?

Thx

The chick died overnight, so that decision is made for me. I had decided to give it till this morning and give the vitamins a chance to work.

The other chicks are doing fine as far as I can tell. A BLRW was about out this morning and another orp was about half zipped plus another orp was pipped. I'm hoping those 2 hurry up so I can open it and snatch the hatched ones out.

Well the BLRW made it out, but she has the weirdest looking head....almost no down on it, and I think one of it's feet may be curled.....at least that I can tape unlike the little BO. The orp also made it out, one is starting to zip and there is another pipped. I think the rest of the BLRW eggs aren't going to do anything.....I'll candle them tonight and see if I can see any movement. That just leaves one orp egg that hasn't done anything yet. I can't tell you how tickled I am about them....since my other try at blue orp eggs was a total bust! I've got bamachickens in the bator now, so maybe I can have as good of luck with them, plus some I got from a girl in Colorado, and a few from Jim in WV.

The ones who hatched yesterday want out badly. Hopefully the two that are working on it will hurry up and hatch and then I'll get them out.

Now if I can just get my blue and black wyandottes going I'll have the four breeds I want to concentrate on and I can go back to just hatching my own eggs!!

The pipped orps have hatched....didn't mess around once they really got going. That leaves just one orp egg that I don't see any action going on. This evening I'll move the chicks out...candle the orp egg and the BLRW eggs to see if I can tell anything. I'll probably leave them in overnight......just in case. The final tally is: 7 orps and 2 BLRW and 1 marans. I'll get pictures of them this evening to post.

Hi Katy
So excited to hear of your success with the Blue Orps from Sunchick. I have a dozen coming in about three weeks are was getting discouraged reading everyone's post about how it seems to be about impossible to hatch shipped Blue Orp eggs.

I feel much better now. ;o)
