I have seen this statement over and over again, what does it mean?

"Looks like a hen about to start laying..."

What does this mean? How does a hen that is about to start laying look exactly?

    Good question. [IMG]

There are a couple of signs. The pullet's comb and wattles will grow very very red, as opposed to the pink that she has probably been sporting. And often, she will start to squat, when you go toward her, instead of running out of the way.

Those are just a couple of signs.

Thank you. I had been pondering that question for awhile, and finally I just had to ask:)
