After my surprise shipment of 14 chicks on Tuesday, we've got 10 chickens. We live in the city. Luckily there are no limits other than that we can't have roosters.

So, I figured out last night that:
    10 chickens
    x
    5.5 lbs (average weight each)
    =
    55 lbs

A medium-sized dog is about 55 pounds. So I've got the equivalent of a 55-lb dog.

Actually my dog is 57lbs and everything I keep hearing says 50+lbs falls into the "large" category. What I used to consider a large dog (say, a Mountain Cur coonhound) is now considered XL since everybody just wants "little dogs"

I think it's similar to vanity sizing for clothes [IMG]
