I have to ask this as this!😂

Yep, it's what I buy to give as scratch, as a treat, not their main feed. I usually get the Royal Wing Economy Mix from TSC, which contains milo, white millet, cracked corn, wheat and black oil sunflower - the basic ingredients of any scratch formula! Sometimes I amend with fancy stuff, like some BSFL, oatmeal, grit. It's clean & very equally mixed; have yet to get a bag with bugs.

Has anyone fed bird seed from the garden section to their birds?
Probably not too different from scratch -- just more expensive.

I usually buy scratch grains and mix in cardinal mix. But they were sold out of 25# bags of scratch so I bought a 20# bag of this.

$Ouch$. $14.99. I apparently didn't check the price when I chose it.
For $4 more I usually get 25# scratch and 7# of cardinal mix. GC

I had some bird feeders a couple of years ago. They were in front of my shop and the chickens were kept behind my shop. Once I started letting my 3 jerks free range during the day to burn some of that cockerel energy, they quickly learned to fly up and bump the feeder until it was empty. It took many bags for me to figure out their tactics but even after eating that much they were healthy. They were jerk cockerels so of course they were healthy. I don't keep those feeders anymore but I can tell you that my boys loved it like a kid in the candy store!
Everything unnecessary in moderation, or in this case, 2Tbsps or less
