I have to talk POLISH!

Lol..Im hopeless. I read it all and Ive examined and examined and I still have no clue what gender my bird is. I *think* girl...but I'm not certain at all. Beldar and Primat are awesome! I'm going to keep doing the wishful thinking method and perhaps it will work!

I completely know how you feel! I keep going back and forth on the gender of Beldar and Primat. Beldar had a more slanted crest in the early stages. It now looks rounder than Primat's crest. On the other hand, Primat had a very round crest for the first few weeks. Now, it has taken on a more spiky look. Primat is also pretty bossy with the flock. I am crossing my fingers along with you!

I wait in nervous anticipation for that first crow!

I will keep both peeps regardless of the outcome. I am so in love with the little cuties

They are bantam Polish chicks. I already have one bantam rooster(unknown mix) that is fairly quite. Let's hope for patient neigbours if the crowing begins!

Thank you so much for posting! I have been trying to figure out the gender of my Polish as well. Beldar and Primat
I'm going to guess the first one is a girl and the second one is a boy. How old are they? The second one is confusing me though. It looks somewhat rounded in the crest but also has the crazy hair do of a male too going on a little bit. Maybe wait a few weeks and post updated pics.

Opinions on my new Polish please? Good, bad, or otherwise....I put on my big girl panties this morning

I can take it.

Her (we think) name is Peanut.

I'm thinking Peanut is a boy but it may be too early to tell for sure too. How old is s/he? I assume it is a buff laced? I believe my little polish is a buff laced and she has more white to her body color. I am pretty sure if it is buff laced they can be IDed by color too. Maybe wait a few weeks and post an updated picture so we can have a chance of a more accurate guess at gender. I know the waiting to figure out gender is the worst part.

This is my guess as well. They are both 4.5 weeks old. I have the same confusion over the second chick "Primat" The little chick started out with a very round crest as a young baby. It was like a cotton ball. It seems to have slicked back and become a bit on the spiky side. Yet, there is still some roundness to the shape. I will definitely post more photos in a few weeks!

Well think girly thoughts for me!!! She is buff laced and about 7/8 weeks....maybe younger. She is fully feathered. I sat and looked at her and the other chicks and some had definite pointy crest feathers and Peanut and 2 others had more rounded crest feathers. We got a little sebright a while back that I was hoping was a girl, but I'm 99% sure it is a roo now.

I just love my polish!!!! MY roo Floyd refused to stay with Fran (polish also) hw continued to fly out of the segregated area to get to the mixed laying girls! They pecked his head and it looked just awful so thats why I seperated him and Fran but he was an escape artist thats for sure. So I let him fo what he wanted. Now they all free range together and I cut his tophat down a lot and that seems to keep the pecking down a bit. He is the most awesome rooster ever! When I pull in the drive he flys on top the fence and crows at me and I yell at him to get down and he makes his funny rooster sounds. here is a pic. I just love him. He isnt fancy but he is a good Roo

The name just fits! he us the first rooster I have had and I got him about a year old already and he sure has come a long way since then. I got 12 older chickens and he and Fran were in with them and they caused my obsession with polish. That was less than a year ago and now I have 100 chickens, 4 ducks and one turkey lol! The place my original birds came from had no grass to run on and she had terrible overcrowding. The 11girls and Floyd look SOOOOO much healthier side living at my house. They now free range and have tons of room in the coop. not to mention they come to my sliding door wanting some treats! I never knew chicken keeping could be this much fun.

But I always trim my tophats hair because its unfair they cant see to gain some status on the pecking order! So they dont always look at beautiful as the ones in previous posts ;)

We had two cats named Floyd and Harold. Those are great chicken names too :) 100 chickens wow! I have been debating trimming mine also, I have a golden laced whose crest is so long and bushy, it is 6 inches across, crazy round poofball and she just is terrified of everything because she cannot see squat. Poor girl lol time for a haircut I think.
