I have to talk POLISH!

Hey, I'm hoping you guys could help me. I posted in the What Breed/Gender thread and haven't gotten much response.

My local feed store gave me a couple of polish chicks. They were picked on by the other chicks, and so they separated them out (in fact, the employee told me she took them home for a few days to nurse them back), but they're still a bit ragged. They think they are around 10 weeks old.

They are large fowl, and I'm thinking they're probably poorly laced Golden Polish. I'm also thinking they're both pullets, (I don't see any sign of wattles) but these guys are the first polish I've ever seen in real life, so I am totally lacking in experience. I'd love to hear your opinions. They are really quite ragged still, from the looks of it, almost half of their topknot/crests have been plucked out. It's coming back in, but they both still look pretty ragged.

This gives an idea of just how picked on these poor little guys were, but they're healing nicely.

They are golden laced polish. Sex you are going to have to wait awhile longer. 1 to me looks roo-ish to me but you will soon no what sex they are in time. Looks like there are getting better and getting there feathers back. Keep up the good work.

Awww poor babies. They both look pullet-ish to me. Hard to judge on the crests because they have been picked on and are missing feathers. I don't see wattles or combs though, so my vote is for pullets. They are cute!

Spinx It looks as if your gold laced birdies have small beards. And when beards are present, wattle are tiny or non-existant. At this point it is difficult to determine gender but jusding from size, it looks as if you have a pair.

I bought two polish from the hardware store and keep them with silkies as they were in the brooder with silkies. I think maybe those two breeds do well together. The WCP is hyper but the golden laced seems calm and watchful. So much fun to have them around.

rosewolf22002 IN the pictures of your eggs the color looks like buff not exactlu brown and the shape reminds me of guinea eggs. If the shell is hard I would say that they are from guineas. I had some a long time ago. And right now I have a wild gold spangled hamburg. She is not wild but her personality is much less domesticated than the flock birds. Well anyway her eggs look just those in your picture. I never thought of it befor but they are quite like the guinea eggs.

Thanks so much for the feedback. It did seem like there was a bit of beard on Thing 1 and Thing 2, but I wasn't sure if that's fuzz coming in after it being pulled out or if it was legitimate beards. This breed is brand new to me, and I think they're a lot of fun.

Rosewolf, love yours, they're gorgeous.

Oh yes here are some 3 week pics of my little ones. Yes some are guinea.

They are much smaller at 3 weeks than my last group at 3 weeks. I think it is due to our week at 100+ degrees.
They are real cute, but I am partial because they look like my new babies
