I have to talk POLISH!

Is there any chance my Polish roo will calm down after he gets his own coop with two girls? He is about 1 yr old and in with the LF flock with 4 other roos in the barn. He has rushed my boots a time or two, but really caught me by surprise and nailed me. I was wearing shorts and have puncture wounds on the front and back of my calf. My DH should have the coop finished this evening. I would really like to keep him. I trimmed his spurs, but I'm tempted to do his head...

He may, he is probably just mean because he is used to scuffling with the others and thinks your another chicken believe it or not, next time he tries it throw some feed down in front of him, another option is to whack him a good one... been there done that a few times lol

Oh I've wacked, kicked, and yesterday I smacked him with my herding stick. I just caught him and have him in a kennel. I was glad to see he settled down and didn't try to peck me when I was holding him. His ladies are two of the sweetest out of my 60 odd chickens. I hand raised them. He is a replacement because my original roo was killed by a dog. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this works He is really pretty.

Yes white is dominant and ruins whatever I do, LOL

Smacking a rooster around is just a temporary fix. I like respect more than fear. Polish roos are disadvantaged because of their poof. It's pretty easy fo me to grab mine when they are nearby. a few times their attack was interrupted by getting the stuffing hugged out of them and loved on. Shock! The other thing that seems to work with naughty Polish roos is to wrap their feet up. Tape, vet wrap, gauze, rags, whatever and however. It's a whole different ballgame when they have their feet wrapped. I have 1 right now with vet wrap on one foot because he won't leave the girls alone and this gives them the advantage. You can use your judgement on how much wrap to use. You can outsmart them.

Yeah, that's one reason I so excited to have a crested breed rooster

Can you post a pic of how you wrap their feet? Do you wrap the spurs only or do you do the actual feet?

Or their website. :) heavenlyfeatheredfarms. Pricey, but beautiful! And she has videos on YouTube about her farm, breeding pens, and lots of pictures. ;)
Yes indeed, these polish are very pricy, but they are gorgeous.
This is what Westleys eye looks like now i'm not sure if he has respiratory issue or an eye worm any one know about eye worms?
Let us know how he does and what it is. I am so concerned
I was shocked to hear it that early too. The others didn't crow for the longest time. Keep an eye on the feather pulling, they can really hurt each other. They are a riot though, even when they are all grown up. :D
I have one roo that is becoming bold from the others pecking. Should I remove him?

I would like pictures of it too. I read somewhere that you need to show him you're the dominant one. So the solution they gave was to pick him up and carry him around with you. When he stays still he knows that you are the boss. Some roo might take drastic measure so they said to hold him by their feet. Yet it also said something about blood going to head. Lol. I don't hold by ffeet . but have carried around with me and has worked for me.
