I have to talk POLISH!

I have to apologize because this may be a dumb question, idk, I just got three new baby polish. (White crested blue, gold laced, and buff laced), what is their temperament with other chickens? And does their head puff, as chicks, have anything to do with their sex?

They are usually lower on the pecking order with other chickens there crests are targets for other breeds sometimes. But they can be mix with other breeds ok you just have to keep an eye on them till your sure they are getting along ok. i have mostly polish with two silkie and two bantam cochins and and and EE. Some say yes you can tell by there bump on there head what sex they are but im unconvinced. they say that if it is perfectly round then it is a girl but i had one that was perfectly round and it is a roo.

this is what he look like i thought from what was said it would be a girl for sure but no it was a roo.

I have hatched hundreds of Polish and I have never successful sexing them by the shape of the crest when they are newly hatched. They all have the same pom pom heads. At around 6 weeks you can start seeing a difference in the crests (usually but not always). The boys will have spiky feathers that stick up and the girls should nice round top hats.

I just got my first Polish 9 weeks ago-they are so amusing....in appearance and temperment. My husband and I laugh out loud every time we look at them. They squawk like mad when we're around and run in circles like nut cases. One turned out to be a rooster and he started crowing at 7 weeks!

ok time to post some pics of my pretty polish's.. i got alot so not going to put them all up.. but i will have to get some pics of my babies but for now here are the adults :D and by the way i have about 12 different breeds of chickens and all my polish's are the BOSS's in the clans.. boy are they.. they even boss me around :p

Your Polish's are beautiful.

Just wanted to announce, I ordered the 'Crested Special' from ideal poultry. They are either gonna be Polish's, Houdan's, Crevecour's, or Sultans. Hoping for Polish's though.
