I have to talk POLISH!

My daughters favorite hen five mo old. Totally cross beaked though. I had posted a pic of her brother and comments were he was too white. I know she isn't Showable with that beak but is this the color we wish for?
So nice! Bummer about the cross beak. I had a gold laced with one. Also have a Silkie with one now.

If you are just showing for 4H bring the hen w/out the cross beak and your roo. If it's a small show you may be the only one or only going against one other. At our show we were able to walk around with the judge and he talked to us after each breed and told us what he was looking for. He would often tell us what was good or bad about each bird. It will be a good experience regardless of if you win or not. We had a lot of fun and the show was what got my DH interested in chickens. He went from us having to talk him into 4, to wanting to breed them! lol
Good luck!

Oh my I don't think my DH will ever want to start a breeding operation. My daughter and I and always trying to talk him into just one more coop. But boy it's hard! We have a few birds each of a few breeds now jut so she can bring a few different birds to the shows. I just want to make sure they are worthy of bringing before putting through the stress. We love each bird and I hate to see them stress if it is useless for them to go.

About the cross beak-is it a trait that is passed on Or is it totally random?

And so far she is happy and healthy, I read the forum about it and I will never tube feed a chicken. Any possibility they will just maintain on their own? Just wondering about this little ones future.

7 weeks-he or she? Please tell me its a girl

And last but not least this is the only hen we have other than the cross beaked One. Any thoughts on her quality and show ability? My daughter is in 4H we aren't showing at any big level.

She has a lot of white in her crest. CAn you post more pictures of her body? A side view of her stance and a picture of her face. Out here in the CA shows the Juniors compete basically with the Open show. Some shows have a Jr Champion ship row, but their birds are judged up against the Open Show birds.

This is one of my girls. My flock still needs a lot of improvement, but her lacing is fairly nice. Solid white, unlaced feathers in the crest are a defect according to the Standard.

Cross beak can be passed on. It can also get worse as the bird ages. Not always, but sometimes. Sometimes, if it is slight and stays that way they can live a long and happy life though.

Wow. Love her. Is she Bantam or LF?
