So nice! Bummer about the cross beak. I had a gold laced with one. Also have a Silkie with one now.

If you are just showing for 4H bring the hen w/out the cross beak and your roo. If it's a small show you may be the only one or only going against one other. At our show we were able to walk around with the judge and he talked to us after each breed and told us what he was looking for. He would often tell us what was good or bad about each bird. It will be a good experience regardless of if you win or not. We had a lot of fun and the show was what got my DH interested in chickens. He went from us having to talk him into 4, to wanting to breed them! lol
Good luck!
About the cross beak-is it a trait that is passed on Or is it totally random?
And so far she is happy and healthy, I read the forum about it and I will never tube feed a chicken. Any possibility they will just maintain on their own? Just wondering about this little ones future.
Wow. Love her. Is she Bantam or LF?She has a lot of white in her crest. CAn you post more pictures of her body? A side view of her stance and a picture of her face. Out here in the CA shows the Juniors compete basically with the Open show. Some shows have a Jr Champion ship row, but their birds are judged up against the Open Show birds. This is one of my girls. My flock still needs a lot of improvement, but her lacing is fairly nice. Solid white, unlaced feathers in the crest are a defect according to the Standard.
