I would too. I have a d'Uccle Rooster who keeps getting his beard wet. I went to check on them and it was wet again tonight shivering so he is in the garage now.

I raised my water up so they don't lean to drink. So far it's helping, but I am sure mine will still manage to freeze their silly heads. I'll try tying, or baby barrettes in their crests before I resort to cutting this year.

If you tie them up tight, it will break or bend the feather just like over using a hair rubberband will on human hair. I cut in the winter but we free range and I don't want them to have such limited visibility because of hawks. The white crests are a perfect bullseye. If you cut, what they have is what it is until the next molt. I prefer to cut a little on my show birds for their health. They are so thick, it can cause eye infections and attracts mites more easily. Take it out frequently if you tie. You wouldn't want a too tight ponytail for two months straight.

Duane Urch has beautiful white bantams. I think he's in Minnesota, but doesn't have an online presence. Maybe someone has an address or more info? It's been several years since I ordered, but as I recall he's a paper order form and snail mail operation

Oh my! That looks painful. I have no idea what it could be caused by, but I would check to see if it feels feverish. Someone posted about a rooster with an infection in his wattles. If that is what it is, it should feel warmer than normal to the touch.

Did he get his head we on his own? If so it is probably frost bite. Where are you located? Is it cold there?

I sprayed blue coat on his head cause the other chickens were pecking his bear head that is why it is wet but that was after i noticed his wattles. Yes it has been below freezing here for 3 days yesterday and today are the fist days it has been above frezeing and this moring it was 12 dergeres when i got up. His wattles have gone down it size since yesterday to almost normal but look a little pale.
