I have to talk POLISH!

Ok, I've got a question. It may have been answered someplace else but I didn't find it.

I have a pair of Gold Laced Polish. The pullet just started laying Sunday and the cockerel is covering her. When I was examining the cockerel one of his points (

I don't know the actual name of them) didn't develop. Is it likely genetic or the result of an injury? I was hoping to breed these but if it is genetic I will not. There are not a lot of non hatchery chickens in my area and the breeder I got them from doesn't have any other cockerels/started chicks available. Thanks in advance for your time.

HAHA!!! Well my ONE chick is hatching right now!!!!! I just got the feather duster in time.
