I have to talk POLISH!

Well thanks for the answers. I have no experience with baby polish except buff laced. It doesn't matter much since poor chick was just an impulse and I have no plans but the silver laced sure are pretty, especially when we have Josh around to post his beauties.

Did the bin say it was a silver laced?

Nah this feed store does not even put signs on half of the brooders. The only reason that I knew that the bird is a polish is because of the crest. In fact two of the men working in the yard told me that they put the silkies into that bin to teach the dumb turkeys how to eat and drink. So I did not recognize the turkey chicks since I am not familiar with them !

Here are my babies! The pics were taken when they were between 3 and 3 1/2 weeks old. They are 4 1/2 weeks old now. They were guessed as WCB, buff laced (I think), silver laced, and white crested red....They have surprised me with color. Is the *red* one going to be gold laced or something else? And what about the white/tricolor one? Someone said she looks Tolbunt, which would be very cool! wanted to cross post their pics here too!

I'm so excited - as I let the chickens out to free ranage this AM, the 4 little ones came out and the two splash/blues (not sure yet) suddenly look like girls! Their crests have filled out and rounded, seemingly overnight, YIPPEE! I'll try to get pix tonight for everyone's opinions/guesses.

We have a show tomorrow and I washed up a few birds Wednesday to get them ready. I put 2 of the hens into a clean cage together -- last night one roosted up high, the other decided to burrow in the bedding to sleep instead . . . . . .yep, you guessed it! Right underneath the other one! Pooped on her all night, back to square one with her, LOL

lol no, sorry, You aren't going to get any Tolbunt chicks unless you pay extra for them and ask for them from an actual Tolbunt breeder. Tolbunt chicks though are born shades of brown with a white breast and mottled or pure white head and crest. The yellow chick feathering in brown black and white is actually not a buff laced, as buff laced should not feather in with any black on them. The whole point is that they're like a gold laced, except, ALL black lacing is replaced with white. It looks like a mutt color to me. The last one is a new hatchery creation "red crested red."

Cute chicks! That last one is super cute but not a recognized color in polish.

Hahaha, thanks guys! I guess I have some crazy mixed up chicklets. They are super cute, though, and really tame now that they've gone to the great outdoors in their pen. I am anxious to see what they look like fully feathered and fully grown. I love these punk rocker birds!

Chick#3 above the red crested red polish looks exactly like a chick I received several years back in an order of red crested red polish from ideal hatchery.
