Sorry I have very limited knowledge of genetics.Hmmm so is the red color the base for buff? Like a palomino is a sorrel/Chesnut horse with a cream gene?
The red crested red polish pictured was mated to a buff laced polish rooster and the pictured cockerel and pullet were the result of that crossing.I am considering breeding both the cockerel and pullet to each other to see if I can get some white laced reds.Breed the cockerel back to the red crested red polish hen and see what I get.Maybe even breed them to gold laced polish. Is the RC Red Polish the mother of the Buff Laced cockeral and the Buff Laced hen?

son to mother and brother to sister is inbreeding. Can you breed brother and sister or do you get some weak stuff with 15 toes and 2 beaks hatching?![]()
Line breeding is son to mother - what's sister to brother?
Don't claim to be a genetics whiz, but from what I have read it can be done and most people who do crosses will do brother/sister mating to see what is hidden genetically. Can you breed brother and sister or do you get some weak stuff with 15 toes and 2 beaks hatching?![]()
Line breeding is son to mother - what's sister to brother?
I'm going to do a half brother sister mating this spring. I'll see if it brings out anything bad.Don't claim to be a genetics whiz, but from what I have read it can be done and most people who do crosses will do brother/sister mating to see what is hidden genetically. It can bring out the faults also.I'm wish I could give a more knowledgeable answer.I would not do it if the original hen and original rooster were from related lines.![]()
Wow ... as always, they are all stunning!
