I have to talk POLISH!

Hey guys! My white polish bantam just laid her first egg today! Here is a picture.

Yep that is her first egg!

Congrats Flaming..that first egg is always fun isn't it? My Silkie just started laying, I was expecting her to any time, but she finally did, right smack dab in the middle of the run..little stink. Moved the Silkies where they have a better way to lay. I've heard they don't always like the next box..now, I'm hoping my polish will! That's a nice size egg there for a first!

just got 3 free polish, 2 roos and one pullet, i will post pics tomorrow, they were getting their *** kicked so their owners put them on craigslist. i love the gentle polish breed, they are definitely my favorite breeds

aww, good for you..pictures will be fun. :))

I keep mine in a pen with several other bantams including silkies and NN banties which are very gentle. The only problem bird in that group is an bantam ameraucana which was added just two months ago. Ameraucanas in my flock are big time feather pickers. I think that she cured of picking by using the pinless peepers. My little WCB now has a beautiful crest grown back after loosing most of it to feather pickers. Her name is Patricia and she is not a sissy but somehow that crest is just a target for pickers. The other Polish,a gold laced male still does not look like his feather are grown in after molting and feather picking.

Same here, mine are with Silkies now, and I will be adding a cochin bantam, and a bantam Faverolle. Those poor silkies and polish can't see the bad chicken coming at them with all that hair do going on.

I posted some photos in the "What breed or gender" forum of my white crested blue polish "pullet" - and the verdict was unanimous....ROOSTER! My question for you Polish experts is....is there any chance that a pullet could have pointy saddle feathers? She/he has some darker pointy looking feather coming in on her back - does that seal the deal - so to speak?

If you're interested in seeing the photos - my original thread is here:

I'm heartbroken at the thought of having to rehome this little one - but would have to do so quickly if he starts crowing.
