We just returned from our Christmas Trip to Vancouver,Wa and found four fluffy butts in the 'Bator!!

One got stuck between the rails of the turner, one got stuck to the tape holding the thermometer to the turner rail and the other two were cruising around inside!

Out of a dozen, I had four that have hatched so far. I have other eggs moving, so there are more coming!!

My Chicken eggs aren't due until Jan 1st or so....

No 'Bator shots, but I got a couple Cell-phone brooder shots. One was still wet, which means he was freshly hatched.

They are very quick. They are all doing well this morning.

My father, who has a Bachelors in animal science said they called quail "Popcorn" when they would hatch them out in class, due to the speed at which they pop out of the shells.

thank you!

Yes, it is a meat probe for a wireless thermometer. The outdoor thermometer for the weather station doesn't like the heat lamp too well (read WAY high).

My FIL used the probe when he did his brooding, so I decided that if it worked for him, it would work for me as well. And it does, incredibly well!

The probe plugs into the transmitter and I keep the wireless receiver on the desk. The temp notifier on the receiver is kept at 85, which seems to be the sweet spot for the chicks. When The heat lamp is high in brooder (the 85 degree mark), the chicks happily chirping and running around). With the lamp low in the brooder (90 degrees or so), the chicks were flattened out and panting.
