I heard that people use Apple Cider Vinegar in their chicken water?

Yep, same story here. Tried it, didn't see any real benefits, and wasn't worth the hassle. My first batch of chicks I did it all "by the book." Anything that was advised, I did. Yeah, how come a 2 pound hen does a better job raising chicks with far less effort than I was putting out? My poor chicks!! They hated to see me coming because I was always adding this or changing that - sometimes I think they survived despite me, not because of me. :D

I've been referred to all the studies and the experts and the pros. In my 67 years on the planet, the one thing I learned from all that research was that for every study supporting one opinion, another would pop up supporting a totally different one. :old

Simple is best, IMO. Adding an acidifier to drinking water, in small quantities, does what? What was the pH originally? Nobody who adds vinegar seems to notice that.
My birds like fresh water, or water from those puddles on the driveway, and do just fine.
Vinegar is for cooking!
I haven't seen any elephants wearing red shoes either...

Nice article, thanks. A 3% acetic acid solution seems pretty unpleasant as the only drinking water offered. My apple cider vinegar is 5% acid; I can't imagine diluting it to 3% and then drinking it as the sole water source!
Adding a tiny amount of vinegar doesn't matter then, but might be more drinkable.

I add it to my hens water. One time one of my girls was sickly and I gave her acv water and she perked right back up. I kind of forgot about it until a different hen had bumble foot, I figured it couldn’t hurt so I started adding to their big waterer. Her bumble foot completely healed and that’s the only thing I did. I’m a believer!

I'm not sure we're talking about giving straight ACV as a source of fluids for our chickens.
I don't think a daily dollop will do any harm and it might do some good?
