I heard the peafowl alert and RAN outside

They are a bit bazaar. My father thought they were going to attack the baby peeps out free ranging because they would get so close to them... we kept waiting for that hard rooster peck but, it never came. They are just curious and so not conscientious of personal space LOL They do weird things too. The male was obsessed with a particular rooster and chased him incessantly around the yard for days. We locked up the peas for a day or two so he would forget but, as soon as we let him out again, he was off and harassing

They finally came to an agreement

So, yes, I completely understand the broody hen drama.

Pigeon is walking around on the bottom of the coop but, isn't flying. The punctures didn't get the lungs so he should be ok. Keep ya posted

Great Story! Hope he continues to heal... Sounds like you now have a homer

I finally let my 7 peas out to free range a couple of weeks ago and I love seeing them enjoying their freedom! I have an aggressive Blue Andalusian Rooster that has gotten me several times. This morning he was headed my way to "Get" me. I called for my Cur dog to protect me and it was the peas that came to my rescue!! They just noncholantly got between me that rooster and worked him away. Was thrilled at their cognition and they are not normally real tame or bonded to me. But they have learned that shake of the plastic jar of peanuts and do come running. So smart they all are.

little homer didn't make it. I checked on last night and he seemed fine

Oh well, at least the hawk didn't get a meal here.. hopefully, he'll move on.

The white homers are my dad's

My grandfather raised them for a half century and gave my dad the first pair when we moved to the farm in 1985. They've been here ever since.
