I Hung a Cabbage &.....

I hung cabbage for my girls, since I've been hearing so much about it. thinking they wouldn't like it cause they won;t eat lettuce. Well they devoured it! I was pleasantly surprised.

A little salt won't hurt the chickens. Might be good for them. Never saw a yard chicken hurt by salt back in the day. We always throwed left-overs in the chicken pen. Greens and fruits are both good for chickens. Some chickens however, have to develope a taste for different foods, just like humans.

We tried to hang cabbage for ours, and they ignored it.

I chopped up half a head today and they loved it, I did mix in cracked corn and oatmeal

. I'll chop the other half tomorrow.

I want to try hanging it! That sounds like they would have fun.

Mine don't like cabbage if I hang it, but if I cut it up into wedges, they love it. They have to have everything cut up...spoiled little girls....

I hung a bunch of kohlrabi greens and carrot tops and they pretty much ignored it for a couple of days, until I went in there and started tearing off little pieces and hand feeding them. After that they tore into it. Very cute to watch!

my girls dont seem to like greens, lettuce, cabbage or anything alike. picky birds,,
they get all the fresh grass they can pick... maybe it tastes better>>

so far my chickens have been nervous a few days with something new then they go for it once they get used to seeing it there.

Mine only like COOKED cabbage.

My birds might ignore it for awhile but eventually their curiosity gets the best of them and one will start pecking at whatever and before you know it they are all pecking at it.
