I Hung a Cabbage &.....

Mine love cabbage and lettuce, and I gived them leftover frozen veggies that we don't eat. They eat the mixed veggies all gone, and leave the little pieces of carrot behind. Pretty strange that out of 9 chickens, none of them will finish off those carrots.

I thought someone had told me not to give chickens cabbage.....mmm maybe that was just for the rabbit.

My girls love lettuce and all the lettuce in the garden that had bolted and gone to see was hung up in the covered run and they went nuts for it.

Now that I kow chickens can have cabbage, I have a slaw mix that I can give them tomorrow. They luv their veggies.

How do you hang a cabbage? I'm thinking of getting one from the store tomorrow and it won't have a stem.

Well the cabbage has been hanging for a few days now & they just do not like it I guess.

I hung it with bale twine kind of like a ribbon on a present, if that makes sense.

Bale twine is nice & tight tying.

Maybe I will try chopping it up, if that doesn't work, I'll have to cook it, & I really doubt the goats would eat it, they are fussy too!

When they were very small I used to chop up their greens for them, maybe they got spoiled!

Thank you! I actually have some of those large hook screws!

After I hung mine up, I pulled off a piece and hand fed a couple of them, then it was on. That cabbage didn't last long. My goats will also dig into raw cabbage.

Well good news!

Went out to do chores this a.m. & the chickens had some pretty good peck marks in the hanging cabbage. Took 'em long enough!

Might have to try the BIG screw for hanging!
