I just became a mother! (new babies!)

My hens hang out under a bush and I spotted a robins nest that had 3 eggs in it and I watched as they progressed daily...mama wasn't always so friendly but she would allow me to get a peek. How fast they develop 2 of the babies have moved on already and one is still in the nest. Gee whiz there were only 3 babies in that nest I can't imagine all of those in your flowers. What a beautiful place to have babies though!!!!

I collect used bird nests. They are certainly something. The weaving is amazing.

Last week my husband found a mouse nest inside the car, under the hood, on top of the engine! When we looked closer at it, it contained hair from my dogs (I brush them outside and toss the hair for birds to line their nests with!), feathers from my turkey, ducks, and chickens, string, dryer lint, bits of fabric, leaves... It was AMAZING! I can just picture the little mouse collecting all of those materials and bringing them "home" to make a nest with. Too bad "home" was on my engine!

Yes, I found a nest that had been knocked out of a bush........and it was amazing what it was made of....a bunch of twine that I had used to mark fence lines last year....I think maybe a few pieces ended up in the garage/shed, which has an open area and a half wall so apparently birds have been going in and stealing from me.

I have another nest that has duct tape built into it. Obviously a used piece of duct tape it stole from me because it has writing on it.

Crazy! This nest will be nasty once it is done.....but the other one that was knocked out of the bush and never used....it is so perfect, I don't know what to do with it though.

I have my nest collection displayed on the top of a armoir in my dining room. I also have empty bee hives and things up there.
I have often found empty bird shells under trees and if they are big pieces and pretty, I will take them and put them in the nests I collect.

New pic today.

The brown is FEATHERS. I haven't seen the mom or dad near the nest in forever. I was starting to worry they had been abandoned but it was like THE BIRDS movie when I went out and moved the plant today.....three finches were flying back and forth from one tree to another, and one end of the porch to another. And there is always fresh poop, so I guess they are fine. Maybe now that they are bigger, the parents need to visit less? Who knows.


HOWEVER....the cycle begins again.

This is a different type of bird......no idea what. Another small one, but different shaped face and beak. She is a little more brave and did not leave the nest right away.
