Welcome, Reg! I'm in California like many other who have welcomed you already. I'm 57 and just got MY chickens a bit over a year ago. Built two of my own coops, too. People who knew me before are just amazed I'm now a "chicken farmer." Not hardly - I'm just a hobbyist with a full time job that keeps me away from my chickens too much.

You're going to love BYC. I have learned so much from everyone here. Some things I learned in time before I needed 'em, and some I learned afterward, which, while galling, is still nice to suddenly understand.

from Sillycon Valley. I've never been to Luton, only to London and Oxford.

Glad you decided to join the wonderful world of chickens. Just a warning, watch out for chicken math.

Greetings! Welcome from western Kentucky, USA. As for your being wise, I suppose it depends -- as far as we (BYCers) know, this IS the largest gathering of chicken-enablers known to mankind...

If you want validation and a resounding chorus of "Yes! Go for it!" at the mere MENTION of acquiring chickens or other poultry, then this is your place! If you are searching for the voice of reason to chime in and list the obvious drawbacks to acquiring said chickens or other poultry, then sadly, no -- this is NOT the place for you.

That being said, I'm sure we'll see you around! This is a WONDERFUL place to frequent and discuss all things poultry (or for that matter, all things in general!) It's so nice to meet you!
