I just bought those suet bird treat things...

We are doing our pigs today. The neighbor who is helping my DH asked only for the fat. I had no idea that was what he wanted it for. ugh. I told him could have it. I plan on visiting my daughter until the deed is done. Hes going to have a ton as they are doing 2 200-270 pigs today.

pellets are a really good idea. I was trying to figure out what else i could put in that would not add $$
oatmeal
old cereal
pellets
corn
stale bread
crushed egg shells

any other ideas?

That would maybe explain why we are on here together. Obssesive compulsive tendencies. Chickens are an outlet for that.
I also, ground my own baby food, for about a week, made my own dog food for my puppy, for about one evening, I drive my husband crazy, and his acknowledgement of my ocd is evident every once in a while in things that he says, like this weekend, when he said something referring to our store that we recently closed, and then said, 'yeah, and Im sure now we are going to be chicken farmers....":|

What about the actual suet cakes you buy? Especially the no-melt ones (thats what we usually buy, since you never know when you're going to get a warm spell). Are they OK? They might be made with vegetable oils instead of a meat based fat.
