I just can't figure these out!! Barnevelders girls or boys or one of each?

I'm thinking on the first picture that the one closest to the camera is a pullet, it has very well defined ROUNDED off and uniform tail feathers. The one further from the camera's tail feathers are not rounded, rather spear-like in shape, I'm thinking cockerel. I'm nowhere near 'expert', but that's my best guesses and reasoning for them.

Just my two cents-
Based on the first photo the one in the foreground looks like a cockerel based on the blue/green sheen and the length and curve of the tail feathers.
The one in the background looks like a pullet because it’s not showing the male characteristics of the one in the front.

I’m going to guess two cockerels... but I could be wrong. Also there looks to be some mixed breeding going on to me. All my Barnvelder boys have far stubbier tails than I was expecting in a cockerel. the hackle feathers on both are quite pointy compared to my Barnvelder girls. I had 6/8 cockerels, and I kept trying to convince myself more were girls!

Yeah if I had to guess I'd say perhaps slow maturing cockerel as well for both since neither have the proper lacing for a barnie hen and with the exception of the comb/wattles not being as red as I'd expect, both look a lot more like silver cockerel than pullet

Well it's just become very clear! Both cockerells! One just crowed this morning, and the other tried to mount a hen!!!:lau

I was just going to respond then read this. That’s crazy that it took 6 months For these guys to mature. My barnevelders roosters were pretty obvious by 5-6 weeks and crowing by 2-3 months. They were huge compared to my hens.

Yeah my little barnie roo is 7 weeks old tomorrow and he is extremely obvious and has been increasingly so for weeks although I suspected him since week 1 based on leg size, stance, and feathering rate. He is still one of the smaller chickens in my flock though and one of the more passive compared to my boss pullets and the larger more dominant EE roo.

Well, if it makes anyone feel better I kept trying to convince myself that maybe, just maybe, the smaller boys with the not quite so large combs were actually girls until about 7-8 weeks, despite the expert opinions on the “what breed/gender” forum otherwise. Once they start to crow there’s no denying it though :hmm they are mostly well behaved boys though, and very pretty!
