That is soooo sad! I remember when you first posted on the forum and added pics of him. Everyone was in love at first sight!

I remember putting down my yellow lab whom I had for 12 years... literally the hardest / worst thing I ever had to do. I was a mess. My wife said I would talk in my sleep about how much I missed him.

Thank you everyone!
I sure was lucky to have had him, and I think that
at least his last few years were great!

Nifty-Chicken; Thank you for having such a great place
to come and share good and bad times alike.
This site is amazing, like having 13,000 friends that are
there for for you!

I will be adding his pictures to the first post little by little.

Sorry you lost your buddy. Thank goodness you rescued him and gave him the life he deserved before he had to go.

Joe, You know how I feel about your losing little Opie, especially after just having lost my baby Shiloh. They have left a giant void in our hearts but we both know that they are in a better place now, and we have to keep their memories alive and hopefully in turn, we can go on with a smile on our faces as we remember them. They brought such joy to our lives and we will never forget that. They both have gone to the Rainbow Bridge. I know they are with Dad. Now they are all watching over us.
Hang in there and remember what a wonderful life you gave to that little guy. No one could have loved Opie more than you did and he loved you just as much.
Remember, I am always here for you.
Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
That pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all
of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty
of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals that had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;
those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops
and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body begins
to quiver. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass,
his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy
kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and
you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from
your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

What a beautiful way to put it. Thank you for posting it. I just lost my dog of 15 years. He was old and had a stroke. He was in pain so we decided to put him down.

I have tears of sadness and tears of happiness right now. Sadness for the loss and happiness for thinking about Poopy (I named him) running and playing like a puppy again. God bless you!!
