This is making me nervous too; I have my order to be delivered the week of February 20th, and I'm up in South Dakota. I did talk to Missy at Ideal on the phone yesterday (had a question about a Khaki Campbell duck on my order) and she said they will "pack" accordingly to the weather, because I was worried that the little bantams I put on my order would get too cold...I only ordered 6 bantams, 6 buff laced polish, 4 white crested blue polish, and 5 ducklings.

I'm hoping it warms up soon too. I've got an order of 38 coming from McMurray on March 3. The cold weather worries me but am also alittle concerned that my banties might get squished in the shipment. I order 5 buff silkkies and 4 d'anvers along w/some orps, Jersey giants, golden polish, golden campines, turkens, EE's and RIR's. I couldn't decide so I just ordered alittle bit of everything

. They told me they would also put in 11 roos as "warmers" and my free exotic chick. Anybody had any experience w/banties being shipped w/standards?

I want chicks bad too and I'm going to order next Monday, but I'm waiting until it's actually spring to have them shipped. After all, the hatchery does their best, but they can't control mother nature. Why take a chance and have some otherwise beautiful babies die?

I just received a call from Ideal. My order is being delayed a month. Thank goodness. After reading all this I was starting to get worried about my new babies getting to cold or freezing. I was considering calling them and asking if we could ship later. Oh, by the way. All my contact with Ideal has been absolutely wonderful. They are the nicest people.
