I Just Ordered Geese

Metzers had some issues this year. They lost there birds in California and were really upfront about it. They had a new southern hatchery they set up I think dont quote me 2 years ago. It could still hatch. A large percentage of there eggs come from partners. So with everything that happened with HPAI this year Im sure they struggled and are doing there best to get birds out there.
Metzers is one of the main suppliers of day old waterfowl and good at sexing, but if you want links to true breeders. Find a breeder.
I raise African Dewlap in Colorado. True African's, Still dont understand why they have to be called super African (hatury thing to justify production African wich are great birds by the way). There purebred African to standard.

Oh, that's interesting, I totally missed that they were hit by it, really unfortunate :/ I did end up reaching out to a couple of people last night that were listed on the livestock conservancy site and surprisingly heard back already with mixed results.

I also got through to a Steinbacher breeder, they seemed pretty busy at the time, and they don't sell goslings.

A lot of people I’ve been reaching out to are only doing hatching eggs, but that seems super intimidating to me right now.

Ordered some Embden Geese from Metzer Farms today, to be shipped early March 2023 ... the phone rings this afternoon and it's Metzer Farms, asking whether I would like to receive my order of Embden Geese rather sooner then later ... how soon!? 'Well, we'd ship them out today' she says!

I was awake before the Alarm clock went off at 0640am ... check the phone for missed calls from the post office - Nothing!

Check the Volume button on the phone - we good!

Check the Tracking Number via the USPS Mobile App - Your item is out for delivery on December 21st, 2022 at 6:41am ... Expected Delivery by 9:00pm ....

We are suppose to get a phone call when there is a shipment of live birds!
Hubby was already on his way to the Post office for pick up, so I call him and tell him that I did not receive the customary phone call ... 10 minutes later I get a text from him: "Got the Birds!"

and here they are! I ordered 3/3 Embden but only one of them is banded ... did I get 1/5 cause there was a reason for why I ordered 3/3 ...

There was no heat pack, one of the lil Boos seems a lil off but otherwise okay, everyone else is very lively and thirsty ... they are under a heat lamp in the Garage, this weekend it's going to be unusually really really cold her in Central Louisiana!

Nutri Drench is good to use with newly arrived goslings. Just add it to their drinking water and be sure to give them warm water to drink so as not to shock them.
They are adorable.

lost the lil Peep who was 'a little off' ... s/he was pretty much doing what everyone else was doing but s/he appeared to be mimicking their behavior rather then drinking because s/he was thirsty etc (if that makes sense) ...

Lil Peep fell asleep and just didn't wake up again
