But this one had long wing feathers

And like I said in the previous post, some have little feathers on their legs.

Some are more yellow and some are more white.

And I cannot say enough good things about the Genesis Hovabator and the automatic egg turner.

I followed the directions that came with the bator regarding humidity but kept the red plug out until it was time for lockdown. At lockdown, I put the red plug back in and added water to the second trough.

Had a remarkable hatch!!

Ummm, I have someone at work who will take 10 hens and 3 roosters. I am planning on keeping two hens. So that is gonna leave a bunch of boys to get rid of... Any takers?

I figure it's about 50-50 so that means about 16 of each... Yikes.

I have the hens spoken for pretty much... but the roos...

This have been a GREAT experience. Thank you to all the encouraging folks out there and thanks for sharing the hatch via webcam. It was SO FUN!!! Chick cam is on sporadically still...

What an amazing hatch! I love it! It's great that you have homes for many of them already! Are you going to do it again?

Hey, CT, ummm, I would definitely do it again. EVERY TIME I go to Trader Joes I HAVE to look at the fertile eggs. I cannot help myself. LOL.

I will do this on a much smaller scale next time. I actually have plans to make some candling videos and take pictures documenting the whole thing all the way through so I can do presentations for students.

I think I am done with hatching for at least a few weeks... HAHAHAHA.

If my husband knew I wanted to do this again so soon, he'd kill me. I need to get rid of the babies I have now before I can do another hatch.

It is overwhelming to care for 32 when you didn't expect it and don't have the space. But I would do this all over again in a heartbeat.

I think I may just get fertile eggs from my neighbor and hatch them for him and then give them back to him. That will take care of the hatching disease I have and the extreme need for chick cuteness and they will already have a home to go to when I am done.

I think you have long feathered and short feathered ones because in making these hybrids they cross fast and slow feathering to get the sex link. I thnk since this is next generation they are likely no longer sex linked but you some short and some long.

Others will be able to tell you better than I. It would be nice if long and short would tell you the sex but I dont think it does in this generation.
