I just set 42 TJs Fertile Eggs! >>>>>Final Count 32!!!!

I want to try this because Trader Joes hens are docile, high producing, white egg layers. That is exactly what I'm looking for. I need to get the kids over the "I'm not eating something that came out of my chickens butt!" phase

So I want to start them with white eggs.

Plus, its cheaper then shipping eggs. No chance of the postman playing football with the package

It's a fun experiment.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I candled the eggs today to show a friend what they looked like and I saw EMBRYOS DANCING AROUND!!!!!

I had to take out 2 more quitters but I still have 38 (THIRTY EIGHT!) embryos dancing in the eggs!!!

This was the first time I have ever seen this. What an amazing sight!

What a miracle of life!

Well, lockdown is on Saturday and everything looks REALLY good. Lots of movement in the eggs when I candle. I am trying to leave them alone and not do too much with the eggs but when I do candle, I am AMAZED with the development. I have not had to remove any eggs since day 8.

I don't even know what to expect on hatch day...

What a fun experiment!! If our bator was working the way it was supposed to now, I would be pulling my duck eggs out of the fridge to give those a go.... Just got a new wafer for it, so it should be working fine soon. Hhhmmmmm, now I'm making the DH nervous

I'll be checking back! Good luck with your hatch!!

This is so cool. I'm curious to see how the hatch turns out.

In my experience, only about half of those that were still good a lockdown have been able to hatch. They seem to have a hard time for lack of vigor.

But I do really enjoy my Trader Joe's Foghorn Leghorns.

Best of luck!
