Could be your guard chicken!

Nest box getting crowded. Moving 2 mommas and babies to the tractor tonight. I'll leave my lil black hen with any nonhatched eggs. I figure if she gets any to come out she can just think she's superchicken and hatches her eggs overnight, it'll match her ego.

If not, guess I get to learn to break a broody. 2 mommas is enough, and she's my best layer, although they are teeny white eggs. And my other girls are getting pretty tired of broodies in their favorite nestbox.

So I wound up with four of my 5 test eggs hatching. They are outside in the brooder as we speak. I'll edit my post directly with a pic for ya'll. How's your hatch going chicsntexas? After reading that first thread of yours, I've been really interested in this one.
I also have ordered shipped eggs. I got the dozen asst. cochin bantam eggs from luckypickens here on BYC. She's very nice and it seems like people get good hatches from her eggs, and they are some cute lines she keeps. Since there are so many planning on re setting, maybe we should just stick together for the next hatch too. I've become quite accustomed to ya'll, and I don't see any sense in starting over with a new thread. I'm planning to set this Saturday coming up. Maybe Friday night if I get the eggs thursday, but I'll just have to see.

Well, if everyone else is gonna hatch again then I want to too lol. Guess I'll try setting up a kennel for my new broody and see if I can move her. If she keeps sitting after I move her I'll give her a few of my BO eggs Wednesday night probably. My BO hatched bantam eggs, my bantam might as well hatch some BO eggs.

Lockdown starts tomorrow on my Silkie eggs. It looks like 4 of 7 are definately viable. We will see on Thursday I guess if anything hatches.

This incubator also has pheasant eggs in it. I am hoping the rise in humidity for the next few days won't ruin them. I have 6 of 7 definately developing.

Wish me luck

Elke

Well, the little one that hatched this morning is doing fine..still trying to find her legs...lol 1 Marans has been trying to hatch for the past 3 hours. With a good kick, he will be out! Nothing yet from any of the others.

I received 13 lavender orpington eggs on Thurs and set them in a temporary incubator Saturday since this darn hatch is taking so long! Temp incubator is a box with a bowl of water, a heat lamp and a thermometer.

Temp has been holding steady around 100. So, I'm in for another hatch! Woo hoo!

I sure would like this one to be done already tho! I don't know what the deal is...maybe I need to recalibrate my thermometers. All of my eggs so far have come from MPC. Lav orps are from BYC auction

Before I got my 2nd broody I had 3 eggs in a "temporary incubator"(minnow bucket, lamp, sponge, and thermometer/hydrometer). A friend was supposed to put them in his incubator, but got some turkey eggs and couldn't fit them anymore. They spent the first 10 days incubating in it. 2 of these eggs have hatched, so I guess it worked.
