I just shot my first Coyote! 10pm

So is Illinois where I live, we hear at least 10-15 every night behind our house. We have great fence for the Alpacas coming, but I am going to have to do something really secure for my chickens, because in the neighboring town a coyote came right up into a person's yard and grabbed their little dog. Owners came out and scared it off, but the little dog had to have major medical help because of his injuries. We use to have hunters with the collars on their dogs they tracked with, and someone told me the reason they aren't doing it right now is because the pelts aren't worth anything. I don't know how true this is, but I wish the market would rebound, because we need to get this under control. White tail deer are all over the place, but it seems like the coyote likes to come up into people's areas for their foods.
Easier I guess to grab a chicken or a cat or dog than to run down a deer or other wild critter.
