I Just Stole My Neighbors' Chicken: UPDATE! PICS

maybe get another "full-size" buddy for her. That way she'll have a companion who can roost with her, and the Silkies can still have their pile-up.

Have no clue where I would get a full sized chicken at this time of year......

Whattya mean Deb, just walking down the road?? Now wouldn't that REALLY be stealing a chicken?

Why did the chicken cross the road? To get the heck away from Laurajean who was trying to catch him with a net!

Are there any farm rescue organizations in your area? Or maybe your local SPCA has chickens. Or you could post on craigslist asking if anyone has a spare standard size friend for your hen. i'm getting ready to do that myself, as i have one lonely standard girl who needs a snug buddy.

Okay, so here are some pics of my newly rescued Henrietta! Captions below each pic....

This first one is a full body shot. How does she look? I know little about standard breeds, does her weight look okay? See appears healthy to me.

Here's a little closer...

Now she's checking out my camera... that's Blackie the Silkie behind her...

I was worried about my Silkie Roo, but he seems to have no problem with her...

Here you can see she's happily eating with the new family (she's toward the left). They seem to have no issues with her so far. She's never had layer feed in her life, she's only been fed cracked corn. She really seems to like it!

So whattya guys think? Does she look healthy? She seems very content with her new home. I went out to the coop today, left the door wide open, and she made NO attempt to leave. She lets me pat her too, she's so sweet and friendly and talks in a whole different way than my Bantams do. Any idea what she is? RIR, or NH Red??

She looks like a production red, a hatchery bird that should lay lots and lots of eggs.

Does your silkie have a white ear lobe?

ETA: She sure looks healthy. Eyes look clear and bright. Very pretty little girl.
