I Just Stole My Neighbors' Chicken: UPDATE! PICS

Yes! Tomorrow when it's light outside I will get pics of her and post them here, so check back! I think she's either a Rhode Island Red or New Hampshire Red?? I don't know the large breeds that well, but she's super sweet.

For a happy Henrietta and LJ... and a

for your neighbors.

Never easy deciding to give up a pet, but sometimes it is for the best.

congrats, you did the right thing and handled it beautifully. I'm sure the neighbor knows if he REALLY wants the chicken back, he could ask and he knows you would bring her back....

I'm glad they let you keep her, I just hope they don't get more chickens until they get their act together.

Since you are neighbors, then, perhaps, they can come visit her when they miss her.

Yeah, I don't need the eggs. My bantams lay tiny eggs and it's STILL more than I can eat by myself. I really didn't need another chicken to be honest, I just knew she'd be better off here. It'll be a mild pain in the neck walking the eggs over there every day, but well worth it knowing she's alive and safe.

And yes, desertdarlene, they can come see her any time they want! I told them they can have her back any time too, but I know they will leave her with me.

I know this sounds absurd, but I just want to go out and hug her! She's such a sweet thing, and I'm so happy to have her, but also hoping she'll adjust okay to the new life in a coop. She's used to free ranging, which she will not be doing here. But she'll have safety and company at least. And the run is plenty large. I'm having a hard time right now being happy about it all because I'm feeling awkward and bad for the neighbor. But he'll probably get over it quicker than me!

Oh good, I like that idea better. It's not that it's that far, it's just that I'm that lazy.

Like the new avatar by the way!

I didn't get to post in time, but my suggestion was going to be for you to let him know that his chicken ran into your coop & you tried catching it but couldnt...if he wanted the chicken back, he was more than welcome to come and get it. You could still use that if he decides he wants her back, though it doesnt sound like boyfriend is too keen on it.

I am glad you saved the poor thing from certain death...ooh, ooh, you're responsible for the emancipation of the starving Henrietta!
