They grow faster than you can ever imagine. Dont wait for that coop you will need moor room very soon. But on the other hand you are doing a grate job good luck.
I've noticed that some people over-analyze chickens. Most of it is just common sense! If your chicks are content, clean, and healthy, that what could you be doing wrong?
There are people in Africa (for example) that don't have any research sites, and they manage to figure it out!
Don't worry. Be happy. I'm impressed. Now go play with your fuzzybutts.
You might be doing what my DH and I had to do...build our coop in the dead of winter
....but we got 'er done and are glad we did !! Chicks outgrew brooder box in less then 2 weeks and we had to do this !! They were flying out of the brooder everytime I took off the lid!!!
If we had not had the coop finished in time, then these chicks of mine would have literally been living in my back guest bedroom!!!!
They are already trying to escape from their brooder. I had to bend the chicken wire in at the top like a jail yard to keep them in.
I am thinking that some kind of temp. outdoor chicken house is in our not-so-distant future. For some reason I just assumed they would live all happy and cute in their brooder for 7 weeks, which would give us ample time to wait for spring, and get their house built. Apparently my inexperience is showing....
