I just witnessed.........The Craziest thing.....Duck/Goose cross ????

Just because they're different species and have different #s of chromosomes does not absolutely guarantee they can't have hybrid offspring. Horse+donkey; lion+tiger (or various other big cat pairings); also a whole lot of other things that nobody ever thinks about, like various treefrogs and plants and so forth. In the rare cases where this occurs, the offspring is almost invariably sterile. Of course, the vast majority of species can't interbreed, esp. if they are more distantly related species such as chickens and ducks.

Dunno about ducks+geese specifically -- google suggests there are some reports but only of dubious and anecdotal nature.

Ducks and geese can't cross breed but a goose and a swan can. It is a swoose.

Chickens and peafowl can't cross but a guniea can cross with them both. Ugly things are the rsults.

Chickens are said to be able to cross with the common variety of pheasant as well. I have never seen one of these myself.

Interesting isn't it?

Hmmm...so could you breed the resulting offspring of the guinea/peafowl with a chicken? I saw images on feathersite.... they are so very ugly!

Males are sterile. While not unheard of it is rare for the female to be fertile.

True, what is it, 1 in every 232 that are fertile?

What, you mean that Turduckin in the store isn't some rare and exotic breed of fowl?! lol

Just an aside, but my brother. . . don't know what he was thinking. . . was wondering what a cross between a horse and pony would be . . . a horny? Don't worry I explain it all to him.

Actually there is a name for a horse that measures as a large pony/small horse. They call them a Hony. Getting popular in Dressage. So your little brother wasn't far off, lol.
