I JUTS BUILT MY NEW INCUBATOR! (pics added!)

I am not sure what you mean about the devices I have hooked up. Its super simple! Its a lamp on a dimmer switch. How much easier can you get? My dad knows what he is doing when it comes to stuff like that and he hooked the dimmer onto the lamp for me. And of course I know that the accurite will not measure the humidity when its OUTSIDE the bator~ There is a hygrometer (much more accurate than the accurite one) in the corner.

I used this same set up but a much more crude version with no turner or fan to hatch many eggs a couple years ago. It was all posted on the other byc site. I am sure some of the older members will recall it. LOL But this is my new and improved one.

AHH! I just found the pics of the old one and here they are:

Looks great! I have a question about the light being on all the time....doesn't the heat just keep building? What temperature is your water wiggler reading?

There are air holes at the bottom under where the lamp is and also 2 on top of where the lamp is. I think there is a constant exchange of air that keep is stable or something. I dont know why it works it just does. LOL The only bad part is that you really need to keep the ambient room temp as close to the same as possible or it will flux some. The temp in the water wiggler is 99* and the temp on the probe that is on the egg turner is reading 100*. Its been there all day and night. Except for about 1.5 - 2 hours after I put the eggs in. Its still holding steady now. I hope it will be as good when I hook up the fan when it gets here. JEN

I also forgot to mention that the light bulb is only a 25 watt. It does not give off massive amounts of heat so theres not risk of melting the cooler or anything. I can lay my hand on the bulb without getting burnt or anything. Thats important! only 20 or 25 watt bulb

Can you explain how the turner works? I've never seen one in action, and a home made one has me a little confused. Are the eggs secured in the basket and you turn the whole basket?

Yes the eggs are in holes that I cut in a piece of plastic and then fitted down in the basket. I turn the whole basket at one time. All the eggs turn and the basket at once.

OH and Charlie, the fan is on the way! I ordered it off of ebay yesterday. I will mount it as soon as it gets here. I was to impatient to wait for it. LOL
