Did you ever have any luck getting the racoon tested for rabies? Even if it wasn't rabid, it is a scary story! It makes me want to buy a gun and learn how to use it. I have never been around guns, so I'm pretty intimidated just thinking of them.

I'm so glad the biggest predators around are hawks weasles and stray domestic animals.

I'm glad everyone is ok. 10 years ago a rabid skunk got into my dogs kennel while i was at work. On the same day, a rabid coon tangled with another dog in town. So the newspaper did a huge story on it all and told all the people in town what to watch for. They said that a rabid coon will usually be acting drunk and staggery......and a skunk will be VERY mean and aggressive. I personally would still have concern about the coon because of the behavior, but it might have just panicked. But i thought i would tell you what i read about the effects of rabies on the 2 critters. My dogs skunk was mean and did in fact act aggressive. The dog officer had been called out on my street 5X for a mean skunk......but everytime he came it was not in sight. And the coon across town did act drunk and wobbly so i guess the guys dog went after it.
